Tagline: This February, come back to Karma, bring a friend, and shop as often as you like.
The pandemic has been hard on small businesses, and Karma is no exception. The loss of in-store member engagement (including member labour) through much of the pandemic has stretched our finances. Staff, Board, and working members are taking action by advancing a number of short and long-term initiatives (see below) – but these types of investments take time to earn a return, and we need you, our members, to spend your grocery dollars at Karma to boost sales now!
Here are some of the key actions underway in the lead-up to our 50th anniversary this summer:
- We have introduced new positions of Produce Purchaser and Communications & Social Media Coordinator to streamline focus on these areas
- We are working with a highly-respected co-op consultant to help us adopt best-in-class processes and adapt to tomorrow’s retail environment
- We are initiating a communications plan and IT succession plan.
- We are enacting a range of accessibility upgrades that bring us into AODA compliance, with the help of grant funding.
- We are making infrastructure improvements – some tangible, others invisible but necessary.
A co-op can only be as successful as the degree to which members are engaged. Help Karma thrive by shopping regularly, and consider lending your personal expertise to one of Karma’s member initiatives. See you in the aisles!
