Karma Co-operative, Toronto’s oldest member-owned co-operative grocery store, is looking for a part time Retail Associate.
The ideal candidate for this position would be able to consistently work Wednesdays (2:00-9:30pm) and Saturdays (2:00-7:30pm), and be available for other shifts (especially evenings and weekends) that may need coverage.
Shifts are subject to change.
Position Summary:
- Provide friendly customer service
- Price, display, and restock products throughout the store
- Receive deliveries from suppliers
- Ensure efficient and effective store opening and closing procedures
- Purchase as required
- Display, cull and prep produce
- Operate cash registers
- Explain and promote the co-op to potential members
- Prioritize tasks in a busy work environment
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Experience in retail operations and purchasing
- Knowledge of co-ops and member-owned organizations
- Knowledge of organic/local food and health/ecofriendly products
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and energetic
- A great team player but also able to work alone and self-direct
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
- Experience working with and handling produce
- Experience operating a POS system
- Flexible schedule to help cover shifts
- Comfortable with wearing a mask and adhering to other CoVID safety protocol

Anticipated start date: ASAP
Starting wage: $15.00/hr, paid sick time, plus a 25% store discount
