Karma Chronicle printed archive is now housed within the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library
Author: Sondra Vandervaart
Our archive of historic printed Karma Chronicles (1977 -2017) has found a new home. The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, located within Robarts Library at UofT, has agreed to take our beloved Chronicles and catalogue the series of printed materials as part of their Canadiana subscription. The Fisher has extensive collections relating to cookery and culinary history and is excited to have a historic view to a consumer food cooperative as part of their collection.
It may be a while for our Chronicles to be catalogued but if you are interested in accessing our historic newsletters in their new home, follow the steps below:
- Prior to cataloguing or for general inquiries on accessing materials, users can contact fisher.library@utoronto.ca
- Once catalogued, the Co-op’s newspaper will become available on the catalogue: https://fisher.library.utoronto.ca/
- Users can navigate to the Stack Retrieval Request form (https://fisher.library.utoronto.ca/stack-retrieval-form-2021) to request and book an appointment to see the materials. Since the stacks are closed, the material is retrieved on the users behalf, and accessed only in Fisher’s reading room, under supervision. Materials cannot be borrowed and do not leave the library. There is a high-quality scanner available on-site for free.
- The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library is open to the public, by appointment.
